How to balance focus, exposure, and composition
A clean frame starts with a clear subject. Lock attention on that subject, shape the light, and let the composition support the idea of the photograph.
A clear sequence
- Name the subject in one sentence before touching the controls.
- Place the focus point on the most important edge or texture.
- Expose for the part of the image you want viewers to keep.
- Use negative space or a leading line to guide the eye.
- Capture a second frame after changing only one decision.
Separating composition from camera settings makes it easier to see which choice improved the image.
